Chapter 3 - The Broken Ballerina

Marco swallowed hard, completely humiliated. He looked down at the little girl in the purple wheelchair, forcing a nervous, trembling smile. He awkwardly bowed his head, his voice shaking.

“I'm sorry, miss,” Marco stammered, sweat beading on his forehead.

But Marco’s apology wasn't genuine. Deep down, he despised this child. Three months ago, Lily hadn't been in a wheelchair. She had been a prodigy ballerina, the light of Dominic’s dark world. She was supposed to dance the lead solo on this very stage today.

But while Dominic was out of the country on business, a horrific "accident" happened at the estate. Vanessa and Marco claimed they found Lily at the bottom of the grand marble staircase. The fall had severely damaged her spine. The doctors said she might never walk again.

When Dominic returned, he was a broken man. He spent every waking second by Lily’s hospital bed, abandoning his ruthless empire to hold her tiny hand.

Today was supposed to be her recital. When Lily woke up crying because she couldn't wear her ballet shoes, Dominic—the terrifying, tattooed mob boss—didn't hesitate. He put on the tights. He put on the pink tutu. He stepped onto the stage to be her dance partner, just to see her smile again.
