Chapter 6 - The Velvet Curtains

The massive red velvet curtains behind Dominic slowly began to part, gliding across the stage with a heavy, theatrical swoosh. The crystal chandeliers dimmed entirely.

From the high ceiling, a giant, state-of-the-art projector screen descended directly behind Lily’s wheelchair.

Vanessa’s breathing became rapid and shallow. Her hands shook uncontrollably. “Dominic, please. Stop this. Whatever you think you know, it’s a lie! People are trying to turn you against me!”

Dominic crouched down gently next to Lily’s wheelchair. He completely ignored his screaming fiancée. He took Lily’s small, fragile hand in his massive, tattooed one and kissed her knuckles softly.

“Close your eyes, my sweet girl,” Dominic murmured, his voice filled with an ocean of fatherly love. “You don't have to watch this part.”

Lily nodded bravely. She lifted her little hands and covered her eyes, trusting her father implicitly.

Dominic stood back up. He turned his terrifying, emotionless face toward Marco, who was still pinned to the floor by the guards, sweating profusely and hyperventilating.

“You laughed at me because I look foolish in a tutu, Marco,” Dominic said coldly. “But I would wear this every single day of my life if it meant I could take back what you did to her.”

Dominic clicked a small remote in his hand. The massive projector screen behind him violently flickered to life.
