Chapter 10 - The True Leader

Adrien stopped just inches away from Sophie. The cold, terrifying, untouchable billionaire completely vanished. He looked down at the beautiful brunette with profound, simmering passion and deep, undeniable respect.
"You asked me a question," Adrien said softly, his dark eyes locking intensely onto hers.
Sophie swallowed hard, her heart hammering violently against her ribs. "I did."
"If I have power but just watch, what good is it," Adrien repeated her exact words, his voice incredibly smooth and intimate. "I wasn't just watching, Sophie. I was waiting for my security team to completely secure the perimeter of this building before I destroyed her. But you didn't know that. You thought I was a monster, and you still stood up to me."
Adrien reached down, gently picking up the black apron Sophie had dropped on the floor.
He didn't hand it back to her. He handed it to a passing, completely terrified waiter.
"You aren't a waitress anymore," Adrien stated, his tone carrying absolute, life-changing authority. "A woman who has the fierce courage to stare down a billionaire over a matter of principle doesn't belong on the floor carrying glasses. She belongs in the boardroom."
Sophie gasped, her dark eyes widening in sheer, beautiful disbelief.
"I need a new Director of Operations for this restaurant group," Adrien smiled, a dark, devastatingly handsome smile. "The starting salary is two hundred thousand a year. Do you want the job, Sophie?"
Six months later, the dark shadows of manipulation and cruelty were permanently banished from Vanguard Holdings. Brenda was sentenced to eight years in federal prison. Sophie walked into the towering glass Vanguard skyscraper wearing a stunning, tailored power suit, having completely revolutionized the company. And her relationship with the billionaire didn't end in the office. Adrien and Sophie were officially dating, their dynamic built on fierce independence, absolute trust, and intense, crackling chemistry.
