Chapter 3 - The Spark of Defiance

The wealthy man in the blue suit hadn't looked away. He wasn't scrolling on his smartphone, and he wasn't pretending to ignore the brutal scene unfolding right in front of his table.
Adrien was still watching her. He calmly exhaled a thin, curling cloud of gray smoke, completely unbothered, his face a perfect mask of clinical, untouchable indifference.
Something deep inside Sophie’s chest violently snapped.
The overwhelming, crushing sadness and the desperate panic over her unpaid rent instantly evaporated. It was completely, aggressively replaced by a fierce, blazing, and entirely reckless defiance. She wasn't just angry at Brenda’s cruel, toxic management; she was absolutely furious at the entire system of untouchable, wealthy elites who treated working-class people like disposable, invisible garbage.
Sophie stopped walking. Her sensible black work shoes planted firmly onto the hardwood floor.
She turned her body entirely toward the VIP corner table, glaring dead into Adrien’s dark, intensely observant eyes. She didn't see a billionaire; she saw a man who had the power to intervene and actively chose to remain a silent spectator to her suffering.
"Enjoying the show?" Sophie demanded.
Her voice wasn't a weak, pathetic whisper. It was loud, angry, and vibrated with undeniable power, echoing flawlessly through the dead-silent dining room.
