Chapter 4 - The Cold Denial

The entire restaurant held its collective breath. Absolutely no one in their right mind spoke to a man who wore a five-thousand-dollar suit with that level of aggressive, unapologetic disrespect.

Adrien didn't flinch. The natural, subtle micro-expressions on his handsome face remained perfectly, terrifyingly still. He didn't signal his private security guards. He didn't demand an apology from the furious young woman standing a few feet away from his crystal wine glass.

He calmly took another slow, deliberate drag from his cigarette, staring right back at the fierce brunette. His dark eyes analyzed the incredible, titanium spine she possessed.

"No," Adrien replied.

His voice was incredibly low, cold, and entirely devoid of human emotion. It wasn't a defensive answer. It was a freezing, lethal frequency that cut through the tension in the room like a razor-sharp blade.

Brenda, the arrogant manager, was physically hyperventilating in the background. All the color violently drained from her powdered face, leaving her looking like a terrified ghost about to face the executioner.

"Mr. Voss, please excuse her!" Brenda stammered, frantically rushing forward and bowing her head in a sickening display of total submission. "She is a hysterical, insubordinate employee! I am having her removed from the premises immediately! I deeply apologize for this disgusting interruption to your evening!"

Adrien completely ignored Brenda. He didn't even shift his gaze toward the sweating manager. He kept his eyes locked entirely on Sophie, waiting to see what the fearless twenty-four-year-old would do next.

👉 Sophie stepped forward, preparing to deliver a line that would permanently alter the trajectory of her entire life.
