Chapter 2 - The Manager's Disgust

Coleman’s face immediately tightened with pure, unadulterated disgust. The arrogance radiated off him in waves. He couldn't believe this filthy street rat had the audacity to speak back to him in his own hotel.
“Did you break a rule?” Coleman scoffed, his voice rising loud enough for the nearby guests to hear. “You are a biological hazard. You are ruining the aesthetic of a five-star establishment. This lobby is for paying guests, not for vagrants looking for a warm place to sleep off a bender.”
Standing a few feet away in the background was Emily, a 20-year-old front desk employee wearing a crisp navy uniform. She covered her mouth in shock, completely mortified by her boss’s extreme cruelty. She had watched Daniel sit down ten minutes ago. He hadn't bothered anyone.
“I am not sleeping,” Daniel replied, his tone remaining incredibly composed. “I am just waiting for someone.”
“You are waiting for security to throw you onto the pavement,” Coleman snapped, stepping closer, trying to use his height to intimidate the seated man. “People like you don’t belong in a place like this. Now pick up your trash and get out before I have you arrested for trespassing.”
Daniel didn't move to grab his battered leather bag. Instead, his expression slowly shifted from polite neutrality to a quiet, powerful authority.
