Chapter 8 - The Police Arrive

“Mr. Sterling, please!” Coleman sobbed, the arrogant facade completely shattered. He fell to his knees on the marble floor, begging for mercy. “I was under a lot of stress! The debts were piling up! I was going to pay the employees back, I swear on my life! Please don't fire me!”

“I’m not firing you, Coleman,” Daniel said softly.

Coleman let out a massive, pathetic sigh of relief. “Oh, thank God. Thank you, sir. I will work for free until every cent is returned.”

“I’m not firing you,” Daniel repeated, his eyes turning as cold as ice, “because you can't fire someone who is already going to federal prison.”

Just as Daniel spoke, the heavy glass doors of the lobby slid open. Four uniformed police officers marched into the hotel, their hands resting on their duty belts.

Daniel had called them from his phone thirty minutes before Coleman even approached him.

The officers walked straight past Daniel and grabbed Coleman by the arms, dragging the weeping, humiliated manager up from the floor. The wealthy guests watched in stunned silence as the corrupt boss was handcuffed right in the middle of his pristine lobby.

“Wait! Mr. Sterling, please! You can't do this to me!” Coleman shrieked as the cold steel locked around his wrists.
