Chapter 1 - The Child on the Floor

The upscale restaurant was a symphony of quiet wealth. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the crisp white tablecloths. Formally dressed guests murmured over expensive wine.

But near the entrance, the elegant atmosphere was violently shattered by a high-pitched, terrified scream.

A tiny toddler, no more than three years old, wearing a light blue button-up shirt and khaki shorts, had accidentally dropped a glass. The thick crystal shattered, splashing milk across the pristine marble floor.

Before the child could even process his mistake, the restaurant manager—a fifty-something man with slicked-back grey hair in a sharp black suit—lunged forward.

The manager forcefully grabbed the crying toddler by the upper arm, violently jerking him into the air.

The little boy dangled helplessly, kicking his small legs, struggling and crying hysterically in absolute terror. The manager didn't care. He sneered in disgust, carrying the screaming child like a piece of garbage right through the center of the dining room.

Suddenly, a heavy, mahogany chair scraped loudly against the floor.

A tall man in his late thirties, wearing a black suit jacket over a white unbuttoned shirt, shot up from his table. His dark eyes blazed with a sudden, uncontrollable fury.

"Everybody back off!" the tall man shouted, his voice echoing over the background music, terrifying the nearby guests.

But before the tall man could even reach the aisle, a blur of white and black rushed past him.
