Chapter 9 - The Manager's Downfall

The fallout at the upscale restaurant was swift and absolute.

True to his word, Arthur Vance pulled every single dime of his massive real estate investment from the restaurant group by 9:00 AM the next morning. The owners panicked. When they reviewed the security footage and saw the manager violently yank a billionaire's toddler into the air, the manager wasn't just fired—he was permanently blacklisted from the entire city's hospitality industry.

The cruel man who thought he could bully a child was forced to pack his desk in absolute disgrace, facing multiple lawsuits for child endangerment.

Meanwhile, Sarah's life completely transformed.

She moved into the sprawling, quiet Vance estate. She didn't just become a nanny; she brought light and warmth back into a home that had been consumed by grief. She played the golden locket for the little boy every night, and slowly, his vocabulary returned. He began to laugh again. He began to run and play in the massive gardens.

Arthur watched the transformation from his home office window. The dark, heavy bags under his eyes disappeared. He began leaving work early. He started smiling again.

One rainy afternoon, six months after the incident at the restaurant, Sarah was sitting on the floor of the living room, helping the little boy build a massive tower out of wooden blocks.

Arthur walked into the room, holding two cups of hot coffee. He handed one to Sarah and sat down on the floor right next to her, completely ignoring his tailored suit.

"You look happy today," Sarah smiled, taking a sip of the warm coffee.
