Chapter 4 - The Manager's Mistake

The profound, emotional silence was violently shattered by the manager.

"Get up off the floor, you pathetic embarrassment!" the manager hissed, marching toward the waitress. "I told you to keep that brat in the back room while you finished your shift! He's ruined a fifty-dollar crystal glass and disturbed my VIP guests!"

The manager reached down, trying to aggressively grab the waitress by her white collar to haul her up.

Before his fingers could even graze her fabric, a massive hand clamped around the manager's wrist like a steel vice.

It was Arthur. The tall man.

The manager gasped in pain, looking up into eyes that burned with absolute, lethal fury.

"You touched my son," Arthur said. His voice wasn't loud anymore. It was a low, terrifying rumble.

The manager’s arrogant face drained of all color. He looked from Arthur, to the little boy, and back to Arthur. He suddenly realized he had just violently assaulted the child of the most powerful billionaire real estate developer in the city.

"Mr. Vance!" the manager panicked, his voice pitching up in sheer terror. "I... I had no idea! This waitress smuggled the child in through the kitchen! I thought he was a street beggar who wandered in!"

"He's not a beggar," Arthur stated coldly, slowly twisting the manager's wrist until the older man dropped to his knees in agony. "And she didn't smuggle him in. She's his nanny."

The entire dining room gasped.
