Chapter 9 - The Firing

The restaurant owner gasped, his face turning the color of wet chalk. He spun around and glared at the trembling waitress with unhinged, desperate fury.
"You did what?!" the owner shrieked, completely losing his mind. He realized her arrogant cruelty could have gotten his entire restaurant burned to the ground by the syndicate.
"I didn't know!" the waitress wailed pathetically, dropping the leather checkbook on the floor. "She looked homeless! I was protecting the aesthetic!"
"You are fired!" the owner roared, ripping the black apron right off her waist. "Get out of my restaurant right now! And you are blacklisted from every fine dining establishment in this city! If I ever see you again, I'll have you arrested for trespassing!"
The waitress burst into hysterical tears. The massive security guards grabbed her arms and violently dragged her out the front door, throwing her directly into the freezing, brutal rainstorm without a coat. She was left exactly where she had tried to leave the mother and child.
