Chapter 3 - The Broken Trust

Cecilia felt the air in her lungs turn to absolute ice. The cinematic realization crashed over her with the force of a nuclear bomb.
She slowly lowered the contract. She placed one hand protectively over her pregnant belly, feeling her unborn child kick against the fabric of her floral dress. Her profound heartbreak violently shifted into a cold, terrifying, and unbreakable defiance.
She turned around and stared directly at the man she thought she had begun to understand. Over the last seven months, she had genuinely started to fall in love with him. She thought his cold exterior hid a protective, caring heart.
"You planned this from the beginning," Cecilia whispered, her voice dripping with absolute, agonizing betrayal.
Roman’s strong jaw tightened visibly. For a fraction of a second, his cold, disciplined exterior cracked.
He slowly looked away from her, turning his gaze toward the massive city skyline. He couldn't maintain eye contact. The sheer weight of her words—the realization that he had completely destroyed the only genuine trust he had ever earned in his life—hit him harder than he anticipated.
But he was a billionaire. He didn't apologize.
