Chapter 7 - The Stepmother's Ultimatum
Cecilia’s blood turned to absolute ice. She gripped Roman’s arm, terrified by the sudden, explosive threat.
Vivian smirked, walking slowly toward the massive city window. "The board of directors is holding an emergency vote in twenty minutes. When I show them this drive, you will be stripped of your CEO title, your assets will be frozen, and you will be facing ten years in a federal penitentiary."
Roman’s jaw clenched so hard it looked like it would shatter. He had covered his tracks perfectly, but Vivian had clearly paid off someone in his inner circle.
"What do you want?" Roman demanded lethally.
Vivian turned around, her eyes flashing with pure, unadulterated greed.
"I want your shares, Roman," Vivian stated flawlessly. "Sign over your entire controlling stake in the company to me right now. If you do, I will destroy the drive. You can take your little pregnant hostage and go live a quiet, pathetic, broke life in the suburbs."
Vivian pointed a sharp, manicured finger directly at Cecilia.

"But if you refuse," Vivian threatened, her voice dropping into a vicious whisper, "I am handing the drive to the SEC. You will go to prison, and I will personally ensure her father’s company is liquidated by tomorrow morning. You will both lose everything."
