Chapter 4 - The Wife's Condition

The heavy, suffocating silence in the opulent office was dripping with cinematic tension.

Cecilia didn't scream. She didn't drop to her knees and beg him for mercy. The absolute, terrifying restraint she showed was infinitely more powerful than a tantrum.

She walked slowly toward the heavy mahogany desk. She dropped the printed contract right onto his pristine leather blotter.

Cecilia wiped the final tear from her cheek. The vulnerable, devastated pregnant woman completely vanished. A fierce, strategic, and utterly unbreakable mother fully awakened. She wasn't going to be a captive in a gilded cage.

"I have a condition," Cecilia stated firmly, her voice carrying a newfound, undeniable authority.

Roman slowly turned away from the skyline. He looked back at her, his dark eyes narrowing slightly in surprise. He was used to people cowering when he cornered them. He had never seen someone look at him with such profound, lethal defiance.

He took a slow step back toward the desk.

"I'm listening," Roman said smoothly.
