Chapter 5 - The Power Shift

Roman stopped breathing. The arrogant, untouchable billionaire completely froze.

Cecilia was demanding majority control of the exact leverage he was using to keep her trapped. If she owned fifty-one percent of the debt, she could instantly forgive it. She could free her father, and she could walk out the front door whenever she wanted, taking his child with her.

"You are asking me to hand you the keys to your own cage, Cecilia," Roman whispered lethally, stepping closer to her.

"No, Roman," Cecilia corrected coldly, not backing down a single inch. "I am asking you to prove that you actually want a wife, and not a hostage."

The cinematic realism of the moment was paralyzing. Roman looked deeply into her eyes. He saw the sheer, unadulterated fire burning in them. He realized that if he forced her to stay through extortion, she would spend the rest of her life hating him, and his child would grow up in a toxic, loveless warzone.

He had spent his entire life forcing people to stay.

For the first time, he was terrified she might actually choose to leave.

An extreme, cinematic close-up captured Roman’s face. His cold exterior cracked entirely. The ruthless apex predator completely melted away, leaving a deeply conflicted, profoundly lonely man who desperately wanted his family.

"Agreed," Roman whispered quietly.
