Chapter 5 - The False Kingdom

Mark groaned in agony, clutching his rapidly swelling nose as blood began to drip onto his pristine white shirt. He tried to scramble backward, his arrogant bravado completely shattered by the violent reality check.
"Are you crazy?!" Mark screamed, his voice high-pitched and panicked. "I'll call the police! You're assaulting me in my own home!"
Arthur didn't stop. He stepped over the shattered glass, reaching down with both hands. He grabbed Mark by the collar of his shirt and hoisted him violently upward. Arthur lifted the 35-year-old man slightly off the ground, pinning him aggressively against the wall next to the fireplace.
Mark gasped for air, his feet scrambling uselessly against the floorboards. He looked deeply shocked and genuinely terrified, staring into the intense, uncompromising anger radiating from his father-in-law's eyes.
"Your home?" Arthur whispered. The voice was incredibly cold, menacing, and laced with a terrifying authority that made the hairs on the back of Mark's neck stand up.
"Yes! My name is on the mailbox!" Mark choked out, desperately trying to pry Arthur’s iron grip off his collar. "Sarah and I share this house! If she dies in that hospital, it belongs entirely to me! You have no right to be here!"
