Chapter 4 - The Matriarch's Denial

If the deed was a forgery, the Belandi family’s entire multi-million dollar real estate acquisition wasn't just a mistake—it was a massive, highly illegal federal fraud that could send the entire executive board to prison.

Sitting at the absolute head of the long mahogany table was Victoria Belandi.

She was the elderly, terrifyingly sharp matriarch of the family. She had silver hair pinned perfectly in place, wearing a rich maroon velvet dress and a heavy pearl necklace. She had built this empire alongside her late husband, and she absolutely refused to let a Sullivan tear it down.

Victoria slowly stood up. She stood firmly beside her elegant dining chair, resting her wrinkled hand heavily on the backrest. Her expression was unyielding, completely masking any underlying guilt.

"Your father was a liar and a thief, Mara," Victoria stated, her voice calm, highly authoritative, and echoing over the quiet room. "My husband secured that property legally. He did not forge that signature."

Luca looked closely at his mother. He had spent his entire life fiercely defending his father's legacy, believing they were the righteous victims of the Sullivan cartel.

But as Luca looked at the forged signature, and then back at the iron-clad, unyielding expression on his mother's face, the lifelong, blind loyalty began to violently crack.
