Chapter 9 - The Peace Treaty

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the luxury dining room.

Pyro and the other hotheaded cousins sat perfectly still, absolutely terrified by the ruthless, swift justice Luca had just delivered to his own mother. Nobody dared to question his authority.

Luca stood alone at the head of the table. He looked down at the forged documents, and then he looked back at Mara.

"I am sorry, Mara," Luca said softly, his voice carrying genuine, profound respect and deep regret. "I didn't know."

Mara slowly lowered her guard. For thirty years, she had fought tooth and nail to prove her father’s innocence, expecting to die in a shootout with the Belandi cartel. She never expected the ruthless boss of the syndicate to actually honor the truth.

"I know you didn't," Mara replied quietly, a small, relieved smile breaking across her face.

She carefully packed the historical documents back into her leather satchel. She didn't have to fight anymore. The war was officially over.

In the weeks that followed, Luca completely overhauled his entire real estate syndicate. He legally transferred the massive harbor property back to the Sullivan family, absorbing the massive financial loss to completely clear his conscience. He purged any remaining corrupt executives who had known about his father's forgery, solidifying his empire on absolute, unbreakable honor.
