Chapter 6 - The Crumbling Legacy

A tight, cinematic close-up captured Luca’s face.
He stared down at the old banking ledger. The numbers were absolute, undeniable proof of a massive bribe.
The color completely, violently drained from Luca’s handsome face. The lifelong, burning hatred he had carried for the Sullivan family—the hatred that had fueled decades of violence, corporate sabotage, and absolute ruthlessness—instantly, permanently crumbled into dust.
His entire life had been built on a massive, highly calculated lie.
His father hadn't been a victim. His father had been the aggressor. He had bribed a notary to forge a deed while his rival was locked in a prison cell, stealing the Sullivan harbor and then weaponizing his own children to fight a war based entirely on fraud.
Luca slowly raised his head, looking directly at his mother.
Victoria stood perfectly still in her maroon velvet dress, her eyes blazing with toxic, unapologetic pride. She wasn't sorry. She had helped her husband orchestrate the theft to build their empire.
"It was business, Luca," Victoria stated coldly, completely devoid of human empathy for the decades of bloodshed she had caused. "We took what we needed to survive. We won."

"No," Luca replied quietly, his voice hollow and broken. "We lied."
