Chapter 8 - The Matriarch's Fall

"You will do no such thing!" Victoria shrieked like a feral banshee, completely losing her elegant, high-society composure. She aggressively slammed her hands onto the table. "I am the matriarch of this family! I forbid it! The land is ours!"
Luca slowly stood up from his chair. The grieving son completely vanished. The ruthless, unstoppable operational boss of the syndicate fully awakened.
He looked at his mother with pure, unadulterated disgust.
"You aren't the matriarch of anything anymore," Luca commanded coldly, his voice echoing violently over the silent dining room. "You built this family on a coward's forgery. You let me fight a thirty-year war for a lie."
"Luca, please!" Victoria stammered, realizing her entire reign of toxic power was collapsing into dust.
"Gabriel," Luca ordered without breaking eye contact with his mother.
Gabriel Moretti stepped forward immediately. "Yes, Boss."
"Escort my mother to the guest house," Luca commanded flawlessly. "She is officially stripped of all executive voting rights, her corporate accounts are frozen, and she is no longer permitted to sit at this table."

The armed guards, who answered only to Luca, immediately stepped forward and gently but firmly took Victoria by the arms. The elderly woman sobbed hysterically, thrashing against them as she was escorted entirely out of the grand dining room. Her reign of lies and corporate theft was over forever.
