Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Trap

Rosalind sat in the sleek, glass-walled office of Mr. Sterling, the most ruthless and feared corporate attorney in the city.

She didn't shed a single tear as she laid out the evidence. She had gone to the bank, pulled the forged transfer documents, and secured the IP logs showing the money was routed directly to Yvette’s laptop.

"They stole eighty thousand dollars, Mr. Sterling," Rosalind stated, her voice a low, lethal whisper. "They used it to book a luxury trip to Switzerland. They leave on December 20th."

Mr. Sterling looked at the forged signatures, a dark, predatory smile touching his lips.

"This is textbook felony wire fraud and elder financial abuse, Rosalind," the lawyer noted. "We can freeze the accounts right now and have them arrested before dinner."

"No," Rosalind replied firmly, her eyes burning with a brilliant, tactical fire. "If we arrest them now, Yvette will play the victim. She will claim it was a misunderstanding. I want her to feel exactly what it's like to have everything ripped away in an instant."

Rosalind leaned forward, outlining a plan so meticulously devastating it made the ruthless attorney nod in deep respect.

Over the next three weeks, Rosalind played her part perfectly. She slept in the freezing sunroom. She cooked their meals. She watched in silence as Yvette packed her expensive white fur-trimmed coat and brand-new designer snow boots.
