Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

Rosalind stepped out onto the snowy front porch. She didn't look like a frail, abused widow anymore. She stood tall, radiating absolute, undeniable power.

In her right hand, she held a folded white document.

Yvette spun around, her pristine white fur-trimmed coat swishing in the cold wind. She saw the calm, stoic expression on Rosalind’s face, and her wicked mind instantly connected the dots.

"You!" Yvette screamed, marching aggressively toward the older woman. "What did you do?! Did you call the bank?!"

"I did," Rosalind replied smoothly.

"This is completely unreasonable!" Yvette shrieked, wildly gesturing at the suitcases piled on the porch. "Those were our tickets! You have no right to touch my accounts!"

Carter stepped up behind his wife, looking terrified. "Mom, please, what is going on? We’re going to miss our flight to Switzerland."

"You aren't going to Switzerland, Carter," Rosalind stated, her voice devoid of any maternal warmth.

"You can't take the trip away!" Yvette demanded, her face turning red with unadulterated fury. "I paid for those chalets! I paid for those first-class seats! Turn the money back on right now!"

An extreme, cinematic close-up captured Rosalind’s perfectly calm face. She didn't flinch. She slowly raised the folded white document, holding it up in the crisp winter daylight.
