Chapter 4 - The Cruel Manager's Greed

Maya couldn't let the old man starve in the freezing rain.
Knowing Greg was in his office, she had secretly packaged a hot bowl of soup and slipped out the back alley door.
But she had been caught.
Just as she was handing the bowl to Daniel, Greg had thrown the back door open. His face was flushed with pure, unhinged fury.
"I told you not to feed the stray rats!" Greg screamed, marching out into the rain. He aggressively ripped the black apron right off Maya’s waist. "You're fired! Pack your trash and get off my property!"
"Greg, please!" Maya had begged, tears streaming down her face. "My mother is in the hospital! I need this job to pay for her insulin! I was just giving him my own employee meal!"
Greg didn't care. With a cruel, malicious smirk, he reached into Maya’s apron pocket and pulled out the white envelope containing her entire week of cash tips.
"Consider this a fine for stealing company property," Greg sneered, pocketing her hard-earned money—the exact money she needed to keep her mother alive. He slammed the heavy metal door, locking her outside in the freezing storm with absolutely nothing.
