Chapter 7 - The True Landlord

The lead bodyguard moved with explosive, blinding, cinematic speed.

He effortlessly caught Greg's wrist mid-air, twisting the rolling pin out of his grasp and shoving the cruel manager violently backward. Greg crashed hard into the pie display case, shattering the glass.

"Don't touch him!" Greg shrieked like a feral coward, clutching his bruised wrist. "I am calling the police! You filthy beggars are going to jail!"

Daniel walked slowly across the checkered linoleum floor. He didn't look angry. The cinematic realism of his total, icy restraint was infinitely more terrifying than Greg's screaming.

"Call them," Daniel commanded smoothly, pulling a sleek, encrypted smartphone from his vest pocket and tossing it onto the counter. "I would love for the police to review the surveillance footage of you stealing your employee's wages."

Greg froze. The arrogant tyrant finally noticed the four massive men in dark suits blocking the exits. He finally noticed the custom-tailored vest Daniel was wearing.

"Who... who are you people?" Greg stammered, the blood completely draining from his sweaty face.

"I am the man who holds your commercial lease," Daniel replied quietly, leaning his hands on the counter. "And for the last three months, I have been receiving anonymous complaints from your staff about a manager who embezzles tips, extorts workers, and physically abuses the local homeless population."
