Chapter 6 - The Return to the Diner

Daniel didn't walk to the sleek black SUVs. He turned his expensive leather shoes directly toward the diner’s front door.
Maya walked beside him, flanked tightly by four towering, heavily armed bodyguards.
Inside the diner, Greg was sitting comfortably at the front counter. He was eating a massive slice of cherry pie and gleefully counting Maya’s stolen tip money, entirely oblivious to the devastating storm brewing right outside his windows.
The little bell above the glass door chimed brightly.
Greg didn't even look up. "We're closed. Get out."
"I'm not here for a menu," Daniel's deep, authoritative voice echoed across the empty diner.
Greg snapped his head up. His greasy face immediately twisted into unhinged, violent rage when he recognized the graying beard and the wet hair of the homeless man he had just kicked out.
"I told you I would break your jaw if you came back!" Greg roared, completely missing the bespoke tailored suit. He grabbed a heavy wooden rolling pin from behind the counter and lunged aggressively around the register.
