Chapter 2 - The Mother's Defense

"Mom is just teaching you a lesson," Ryan smirked from the background, his tone dismissive and cold.

To understand the suffocating nightmare the young wife was trapped in, one had to look at how quickly her marriage had disintegrated. Two years ago, she had fallen in love with Ryan, believing he was a kind, successful corporate executive. But the moment they married, Ryan revealed his true colors—a lazy, entitled mama's boy who expected her to serve his mother hand and foot.

When she was six months pregnant, Ryan and Linda had convinced her to sell her own apartment, claiming they needed to pool their money to buy this grand penthouse family estate. She had happily signed over her life savings, trusting the man she loved.

Instead, the day she came home from the hospital with her newborn baby, Linda moved in, took over the master bedroom, and turned the house into a waking nightmare. They refused to hire help, forced her to do heavy manual labor hours after giving birth, and treated her like an unwanted servant in her own home.
