Chapter 6 - The Arrogant Fall

"No... no, that's impossible," Ryan stammered, his face turning a sickly, pale white. He grabbed the hem of her floral dress, completely abandoning his arrogant facade. "You said we were building a life together! You said this was our home!"
"It is my home," the wife corrected coldly, stepping back so his hands fell onto the empty floor. "You and your mother are guests who overstayed your welcome. And the reservation is officially canceled."
Down in the lobby of the luxury building, heavy footsteps echoed up the private staircase.
Four burly building security guards, flanked by two uniformed police officers, marched directly into the bright living room. They completely bypassed the stunned mother and son and walked straight toward the shaking husband.
"Mr. Ryan Vance and Mrs. Linda Vance?" the lead police officer barked, holding a formal eviction notice. "You have been formally trespassed by the legal owner of this residence. Gather your personal belongings and leave immediately."
Linda let out a horrific, high-pitched shriek of pure, unadulterated terror. "You can't throw me out! I am a respectable woman! I demand respect!"
