Chapter 7 - The Apocalyptic Footage

The cinematic realism of the horrific betrayal played out in stunning 1080p resolution on Jason's phone screen.

The video showed the dim suburban living room. Natalie was sitting on the expensive leather couch, pouring a glass of expensive red wine. Sitting right beside her, with his arm aggressively draped over her shoulder, was Mark—Jason’s own supposedly trusted financial advisor.

"Are you sure the life insurance policy is fully updated?" Natalie asked on the video, her voice dripping with toxic, unadulterated greed.

"It's ironclad, babe," Mark laughed arrogantly, taking a sip of wine. "Two million dollars, full payout to the surviving spouse. No contest clauses. We just need to figure out what to do with the brat."

Jason stopped breathing. He watched in absolute, unfiltered horror as his wife and his financial advisor actively plotted his murder and the theft of his entire estate.

"I'm handling Sophie," Natalie sneered viciously on the recording. "I've been leaving marks on her that look like self-harm. Next week, I'm taking her to a corrupt psychiatrist Mark recommended. We are going to have her institutionalized for severe behavioral disorders. Once she is locked in a psychiatric facility, she can't contest the will when Jason has his... tragic car accident."

On the video, eight-year-old Sophie quietly walked into the living room, holding a drawing she made. Natalie instantly slammed her wine glass down, violently grabbed the little girl by the arm, and aggressively shoved her toward the hallway, screaming at her to get in the closet.

Jason slowly pulled the headphones out of his ears.
