Chapter 6 - The Setup

The next morning, the grand estate was bathed in bright, beautiful sunlight once again.

Meredith walked down the grand staircase wearing a stunning white silk blouse and tailored trousers, looking every bit the elegant, high-society wife. She walked into the luxurious dining room, pouring herself a cup of expensive coffee.

Daniel was sitting at the head of the long dining table, dressed in his sharp black shirt. He was typing casually on his tablet.

"Good morning, darling," Meredith smiled warmly, walking over to kiss his cheek. "How is Lily today? I hope she isn't still upset about our little misunderstanding yesterday."

"She's fine," Daniel replied smoothly, completely hiding the lethal fury boiling beneath his skin. "She is upstairs playing."

Meredith took a sip of her coffee, her eyes scanning the room. "You know, Daniel, I was thinking. This house is so large, and Lily requires so much attention. I found a wonderful, highly exclusive boarding school in Switzerland. It would be amazing for her development, and it would give us some time to focus on our marriage."

Daniel stopped typing. He slowly looked up at the woman who wanted to ship his traumatized daughter across the world.

"That's a very interesting idea, Meredith," Daniel said, his voice entirely unreadable. "But before we discuss Lily's future, I need you to sign a few documents for the new corporate merger."

He slid a thick manila folder across the polished dining table.

Meredith’s eyes lit up with greedy anticipation. She assumed it was another joint account authorization. She eagerly pulled a gold pen from her designer purse.
