Chapter 8 - The Video Proof

Meredith completely froze. She looked like she had just been struck by lightning.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about," Meredith stammered pathetically, desperately backing away toward the archway. "Lily lied to you! I told you, she’s a confused child!"
Daniel didn't argue. He simply reached out and tapped the screen of his tablet.
The high-definition video from the nursery instantly mirrored onto the massive, flat-screen television mounted on the dining room wall. The crystal-clear audio of Meredith’s cruel, demonic voice echoed through the room.
"You killed her. If you weren't here, she would still be alive, and your father would actually be happy."
Meredith let out a sharp, terrified gasp, covering her mouth with her trembling hands. She realized she was completely, inescapably trapped. The evidence was absolute and undeniable.
"You are a monster," Daniel stated, standing up to his full, towering height.
"Daniel, please!" Meredith sobbed hysterically, dropping to her knees on the expensive rug. "I was just stressed! I didn't mean it! I can be a good mother! Don't let a stupid mistake ruin our marriage!"
"Our marriage ended the second you made my daughter cry," Daniel replied, completely devoid of human empathy.
He didn't touch her. A man of his power didn't need to. He simply pulled out his cell phone and hit a single button.
