Chapter 6 - The Inside Man
The horrific truth hung in the bright, sterile air. Someone incredibly powerful was trying to use the hospital as an execution chamber to steal a two-billion-dollar fortune. And worse, they had someone on the inside manipulating the medical records to make it happen.
Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the hospital room swung open.
Dr. Keller, the hospital’s Chief of Surgery, walked in. He was a distinguished, wealthy-looking man in his 60s, holding a thick medical file. He smiled warmly at Lily, then turned his sharp gaze to the panicked staff.
"Is the patient prepped for tomorrow's procedure?" Dr. Keller asked smoothly, his tone entirely casual.
Maya felt her blood run completely cold. Dr. Keller was the one who had personally handed them Lily’s file last night. He was the one who diagnosed the fatal arrhythmia. He was the one who scheduled the emergency surgery.
Dr. Aris quickly kicked the rag doll under the medical bed, hiding the terrifying evidence.
"Yes, Dr. Keller," Dr. Aris lied, his voice tight. "She is stable. We were just reviewing the final charts."
