Chapter 2 - The Malicious Push

The shocked guests in the background fell completely silent, horrified by the groom's coldness.
Thomas gently wrapped his arm around Evelyn, helping her slowly stand up. She hissed in pain, refusing to put weight on her swollen ankle. Her beautiful lavender dress was covered in thick, dark mud.
"She didn't lose her balance, Adrian," Thomas stated, his voice a low, lethal rumble that echoed across the quiet lawn. "Your bride pushed her."
The entire wedding party gasped.
Adrian rolled his eyes, utterly dismissing his father's accusation. "Dad, stop being dramatic. Celeste accidentally bumped into her while we were lining up for the family portrait."
"It wasn't an accident," Evelyn wept softly, leaning heavily against her husband. "She told me my dress was too ugly for the front row, and then she shoved me backward off the patio step."
Celeste dropped her hand from her mouth. Her fake laughter vanished, replaced by an arrogant, highly offended glare. She crossed her arms, her pristine white wedding gown contrasting sharply with the mud on Evelyn.
"I barely touched you, Evelyn," Celeste sneered, her voice dripping with high-society venom. "You’re just desperate for attention because Adrian is finally cutting the umbilical cord. You're upset because my family is paying for this wedding, and you feel entirely irrelevant."
Thomas’s jaw clenched. His gray eyes turned colder than ice.
He didn't scream at the bride. The cinematic realism of his total restraint was infinitely more terrifying.

"Is that what you told her, Adrian?" Thomas asked quietly, looking dead into his son's eyes. "That her family is paying for this?"
