Chapter 9 - The Rightful Queen

The security guards violently hauled the weeping, hysterical groom up from the altar.
"Dad, please! Mom, help me!" Adrian wailed pathetically as they dragged him away.
Evelyn sat quietly in her chair, her muddy lavender dress contrasting with her absolute, unbreakable dignity. She looked at the son who had watched her suffer and laughed.
"Goodbye, Adrian," Evelyn whispered softly, completely turning her face away from him.
The guards dragged Adrian across the lawn and shoved him out the massive iron gates of the estate, ending his reign of psychological cruelty, arrogance, and greed forever. He was going to sleep on the street completely broke.
The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the beautiful estate lawn.
Thomas walked slowly down from the altar. He ignored the shocked, wealthy guests. He ignored the ruined wedding decorations.
He walked directly over to Evelyn. He carefully scooped his wife up into his arms, completely unbothered by the wet mud staining his expensive gray suit.
"I've got you, my love," Thomas whispered fiercely, kissing her forehead. "Let's get you inside."
