Chapter 32 - the silent advantage

Caleb was reviewing quarterly reports in the grand library when the heavy, impenetrable darkness swallowed the mansion. The backup generators failed to engage. Inheriting a terrifyingly cold composure, he calmly pulled an encrypted tablet from his mahogany desk.

Suddenly, a deafening, high-frequency acoustic weapon was activated by the intruders from the courtyard. The paralyzing sound wave instantly incapacitated the elite guards and Hannah, forcing them to their knees in sheer, suffocating agony.

But Caleb was completely deaf. The devastating sonic attack meant to neutralize the entire estate's security force had absolutely zero effect on him. He felt the heavy vibrations in the floorboards, but his mind remained flawlessly sharp and entirely focused.

He looked at the security monitors on his tablet, watching dozens of heavily armed mercenaries breach the perimeter. They arrogantly believed every single person in the mansion was entirely paralyzed.
