Roman offered the little girl a rare, genuine smile. "No, they shouldn't. And little girls shouldn't be sleeping behind dumpsters."
He stood up and looked at his head guard. "Prepare the largest guest suite in the east wing. Call the best pediatricians in the city for my son, and hire a private tutor. Ellie is never sleeping on the street again."
Ellie’s brown eyes widened in absolute shock. "I can stay?"
"You aren't just staying," Roman said, holding his son close. "You are under the permanent protection of my family. As long as I breathe, you will have a home, an education, and anything you could ever want."
Months later, the dark, desolate estate was entirely transformed. The rival syndicate had been completely dismantled after Cassandra’s father failed to start a war he couldn't win. Cassandra remained locked away, entirely erased from the world.
