Chapter 8 - The Basement Prison

"Where is Elena?" Roman whispered, stepping so close to Cassandra that she could feel the lethal coldness radiating from his black suit.
"She's dead!" Cassandra cried out, trying to push him away. "She died giving birth! I swear to God! I kept the baby hidden at my private estate for a year, but he started looking too much like you! I had to get rid of him before the wedding!"
Roman’s heart shattered at the confirmation of Elena's death, but he didn't let the grief show on his face. He simply stared at the monster who had thrown his only son into the trash.
"You threw my blood into a dumpster to freeze to death," Roman stated, his voice completely devoid of any human mercy.
He didn't raise his hand. He didn't strike her. He simply looked down at the bottom of the stairs, where his heavily armed guards were standing in absolute silence, waiting for his command.
"Take her down to the cells beneath the estate," Roman ordered. "And call her father. Tell him the alliance is officially broken. If he wants his daughter back, he can come and try to dig her out of the concrete himself."
