Chapter 2 - The Cruel Command

The enormous black-framed glass entrance doors of the luxury building aggressively swung open.

Ethan, Meredith’s husband of ten years, stormed down the elegant stone stairs. He was a tall, broad-shouldered, thirty-nine-year-old corporate titan wearing a fitted deep-burgundy dress shirt with the top buttons casually open and matching burgundy trousers. His thick dark-brown hair was perfectly styled, but his strong masculine jawline was currently twisted into a mask of furious, arrogant disdain.

"Leave the keys! Get out!" Ethan roared, aggressively pointing his finger toward the heavy iron gates of the driveway.

He didn't care that the neighbors could hear him. He wanted to completely humiliate Meredith. He had recently initiated a massive corporate merger for his family’s tech empire, and in his toxic arrogance, he believed he was now entirely untouchable. He wanted to clear his wife out of the mansion before the evening gala so he could officially debut his beautiful young mistress to the city's elite.

Right behind Ethan stood his domineering sixty-five-year-old mother, Judith.

Wearing a dark-red designer dress and expensive pearl earrings, Judith folded her arms across her chest. She had always been openly hostile toward Meredith, viewing her as a useless trophy wife who didn't deserve the family name. Judith watched the luggage scattered on the ground with a deeply satisfied, venomous smirk.

But Meredith refused to look frightened. She didn't cower, and she didn't beg for her marriage. She simply stared at the man who had just destroyed her life, her determined eyes radiating lethal composure.

👉 Ethan took a threatening step forward, entirely blind to the fact that he was yelling at a corporate apex predator.
