Chapter 9 - The Eviction

"No..." Ethan choked out, physically staggering backward until his polished black shoes hit the edge of the stone steps. "You can't take the house. My mother lives here!"

"Not anymore," Meredith replied flawlessly, entirely devoid of human mercy.

As if on cue, four massive, heavily armed private corporate security guards marched out from the shadows of the limestone columns. But they didn't walk toward Meredith. They completely bypassed her and marched directly up the marble steps, surrounding the terrified husband and his weeping mother.

"Mr. Rowe," the lead security commander barked loudly, grabbing Ethan firmly by the arm. "You are officially trespassing on private corporate property. We are escorting you and your guests off the premises immediately."

"Get your filthy hands off me!" Judith shrieked wildly, violently thrashing in her dark-red dress as a guard forcefully guided her down the stairs. "I am a Rowe! I demand respect!"

Up on the balcony, absolute panic completely destroyed Vanessa’s smug confidence.

The mistress scrambled away from the wrought-iron railing and sprinted wildly down the grand interior staircase, desperately trying to grab her expensive designer handbags before she was thrown out onto the street. She burst through the black-framed glass doors, tears ruining her glamorous makeup.
