Chapter 8 - The True Owner

"Vanessa, go inside!" Ethan screamed frantically, pointing up at the ornate wrought-iron balcony. His deep-burgundy shirt was completely soaked in a nervous sweat. "Go into the master suite and lock the doors! Do not let her back into this building! This is still my house!"

Meredith didn't yell. Her quietness was infinitely more terrifying.

The bright Denver sunlight caught the massive blue sapphires resting around her neck as she slowly, deliberately lowered the damaged smartphone from her face.

An extreme cinematic close-up captured Meredith’s elegant features. A restrained, incredibly confident, and highly victorious smile slowly appeared on her rosy lips.

"I own it," Meredith stated quietly, but with absolute, earth-shattering power.

An immediate reaction shot captured Ethan. The color completely, violently drained from his face, leaving him looking like a pale ghost. His dark eyes widened in complete, apocalyptic shock as his jaw literally unhinged.

Behind him on the marble steps, Judith aggressively covered her mouth with both hands to stifle a scream of pure horror.

Up on the balcony, Vanessa stood completely motionless, her platinum-blonde braid resting against her mint-green gown as the terrifying reality set in.

The multi-million-dollar Denver luxury residence wasn't registered in Ethan's personal name. To avoid taxes, Ethan had legally transferred the deed of the entire estate directly into the corporation's real estate portfolio three years ago.

👉 Meredith had just seized the corporation, which meant she just became the sole landlord of the mansion.
