Chapter 3 - The Smashed Screen

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing tension completely electrified the marble entrance foyer.
"Did you hear my son?!" Judith snapped viciously, her ash-blonde hair catching the sunlight as she marched down the remaining stone steps. "You are completely finished in this city, Meredith! You have absolutely nothing without our family's money! Pick up your trash and leave before I have security drag you out by your hair!"
Meredith remained completely silent, her posture effortlessly straight in her white floral gown. She slowly raised her black smartphone, her thumb hovering over the screen to make a single, devastating phone call.
But before she could press the button, Judith lunged forward.
With surprising speed, the vicious mother-in-law snatched the smartphone directly out of Meredith’s hand.
"No more calling your pathetic lawyers!" Judith sneered aggressively. With a violent, dramatic swing of her arm, she threw the expensive device directly onto the hard marble floor.
The screen cracked with a sharp, highly realistic, and sickening impact. The tempered glass shattered into a terrifying spiderweb pattern across the display.
Judith stepped back, brushing off her dark-red dress with a wildly satisfied, triumphant expression. Up on the balcony, Vanessa leaned over the wrought-iron railing, giggling loudly at the absolute public humiliation of the former lady of the house.

Meredith slowly looked down at the severely damaged phone resting on the marble tiles.
👉 Judith smiled toxically, completely unaware that her violent action hadn't disconnected the device at all.
