Chapter 4 - The Unknown Father
Garrett’s face flushed a deep, panicked red. He stepped closer to the bed, the toddler in his arms whining softly from the sudden tension in his grip.
"Who is he?!" Garrett demanded, his voice rising in sheer desperation. "Brooke, answer me right now! Did you cheat on me? Is that what this is? You had twins, and you're trying to hide one from me because it's not mine?!"
Kendra stepped forward, her white fur coat rustling, her face twisting into an ugly sneer. "I knew it, Garrett! She's been playing the victim this whole time, but she's a liar! Make the doctor do a DNA test right now! We can use this in the divorce!"
Brooke’s composed expression never wavered. She gently stroked the soft, pale knitted cap on her daughter's head, completely unbothered by the two frantic cheaters screaming at the foot of her bed.
The heavy door to the maternity room suddenly swung open.
Standing in the doorway was an imposing man in his late 60s, wearing an immaculate, tailored charcoal suit. His silver hair was perfectly combed, and his sharp, calculating eyes immediately locked onto Garrett.
It was Richard Hale, Brooke’s father.
