Chapter 6 - The Secret Adoption
Kendra let out a loud, mocking laugh, completely misreading the room. "I told you, Garrett! She's a tramp! She slept with someone else and got pregnant with another man's baby at the exact same time! You owe her absolutely nothing!"
Richard Hale slowly turned his head, locking his piercing, lethal gaze onto the mistress in the champagne gown.
"If you speak again in my daughter's room, I will have my security team throw you out the third-story window," Richard warned, his voice low and vibrating with absolute authority. Kendra’s jaw snapped shut, the color violently draining from her face.
Garrett couldn't breathe. He looked at the baby boy in the bassinet, then at the baby girl in Brooke's arms. They looked identical. They had the same dark hair, the same delicate features. It was medically impossible for them to have different fathers if they were born on the same day.
"Brooke, I demand a DNA test!" Garrett shouted, desperation taking completely over. "You can't lie to me! That is my son!"
"No, Garrett," Richard interrupted, stepping between his daughter and his son-in-law. "That is my son."
The entire room went completely, terrifyingly silent. Garrett stared at his father-in-law, his brain completely short-circuiting.
"Your... your son?" Garrett choked out. "What are you talking about?"

Brooke sat up slightly against the white pillows. "Nine months ago, when you started coming home late, I hired a private investigator. I found out about Kendra. I found out about the toddler you were hiding. I found out you were secretly draining our joint accounts to buy her a house."
