Chapter 5 - The Forgery Scheme
Patricia wasn't just arrogant; she was calculating. She knew that if she just showed up with a moving truck, Rachel could easily call the police and have them trespassed. So, Patricia and Jason took their toxic plan one massive, illegal step further.
A week before the housewarming, Jason had illegally accessed Rachel’s mail. He stole a copy of the official property deed. Using a corrupt notary public who owed Jason a favor, they forged Rachel’s signature on a Quitclaim Deed.
They officially filed paperwork with the county clerk to transfer ownership of the beach cottage from Rachel into a "Family Trust" entirely controlled by Jason.
In their twisted minds, they had legally stolen the house right out from under her. They thought the paperwork had been fully processed in the shadows. That was why Jason was standing in the kitchen so smugly. He genuinely believed that he was the legal owner of the property, and that Rachel was now just a guest in his house.
