Chapter 8 - The Attorney's Letter

Jason squinted at the papers in Rachel’s hand. The arrogant smirk on his face instantly vanished, entirely replaced by a sickening, pale look of sheer panic.

“What is that?” Patricia demanded, her voice suddenly trembling as she saw the color drain from her golden boy’s face.

“This is an official notice from the District Attorney’s office,” Rachel said clearly, making sure every single relative in the room heard her. “It turns out, the county clerk’s office flagged the Quitclaim Deed you filed last week. The signature didn't match my records. So, they called me.”

Robert’s head snapped up. The quiet, cowardly father suddenly realized the catastrophic legal danger his wife and son had just placed them in.

“I didn't just find out about your little family trust,” Rachel continued, her voice radiating pure power. “I hired a forensic handwriting expert. I hired a real estate attorney. And I handed all of your forged documents directly over to the police for felony fraud.”

Jason stumbled backward, dropping his phone onto the wooden floor. His hand fell limply to his side. The realization hit him like a freight train—he hadn't stolen the house. He had just handed the state a signed confession to a massive felony.
