Chapter 7 - The Unveiling

Jason let out a harsh, cruel laugh. He pushed himself off the granite counter and marched aggressively toward his sister, trying to use his height to intimidate her.
“You don't have a choice, little sister,” Jason mocked, his tone dripping with sheer arrogance. “You really should pay more attention to your mail. You don't own this property anymore. The Family Trust owns it. I’m the trustee. So technically, I’m the one letting you stay here.”
The relatives gasped collectively. Aunt Martha covered her mouth in sheer horror. Patricia smiled victoriously, proud of her son’s ruthless takeover.
Rachel didn't step back. Her natural micro-expressions showed absolutely zero fear.
She looked Jason dead in the eyes, her composure terrifyingly steady. Slowly, deliberately, Rachel opened the thick manila document folder she had been gripping since they arrived.
“That’s funny,” Rachel whispered, her voice as cold as the ocean wind.
She pulled out a stack of crisp, legal papers bearing the golden seal of the State of North Carolina. She held the documents up, ensuring the official letterhead was facing her brother and her mother.
