Chapter 1 - The Devastating Confession
The grand wedding ceremony hall was a breathtaking vision of white floral arrangements, cascading silk drapery, and warm, glowing chandeliers. But the beautiful, romantic illusion was rapidly shattering into a million pieces. The muffled, joyful chatter of confused guests in the background faded into a suffocating, dead silence. Chloe stood at the altar in her pristine white lace gown, a sparkling tiara resting in her brown hair. She was clutching her white rose bouquet so tightly her knuckles had turned completely pale.
Standing just a few steps away was her older sister, Marin. Marin’s blonde hair was swept into a flawless, elegant updo, and her expensive blush pink bridesmaid dress stretched tightly over her visibly pregnant belly. But Marin wasn't smiling with joy for her sister. She was sobbing uncontrollably, her entire body shaking as she held up a small, crumpled ultrasound photo.
Chloe felt the air leave her lungs. Her heart slammed violently against her ribs as she stared at the black-and-white image in her sister's trembling hands.
"Whose baby?" Chloe whispered, her voice cracking in the massive, echoing hall.
Marin couldn't even make eye contact at first. She squeezed her eyes shut, heavy tears streaming down her pale cheeks. She looked down at the polished marble floor, completely paralyzed by immense, suffocating guilt.
"Marin," Chloe demanded, her voice rising in sheer panic. "Whose baby is it?"
Marin finally looked up. Her bloodshot eyes darted past Chloe, landing directly on the handsome groom standing at the altar in his tailored black tuxedo.
