Chapter 10 - The Bride's Freedom

Chloe’s parents stood frozen in absolute terror at the altar. They had just lost their only financial lifeline. With Liam’s accounts completely frozen and the authorities already dialing their numbers for felony tax fraud and extortion, they were headed straight for federal prison.

Her father fell to his knees, sobbing hysterically and begging Chloe for forgiveness, promising he would change. Her mother desperately reached out to her, black mascara tears ruining her expensive makeup.

Chloe looked down at the greedy, cowardly people who had brought her into the world and felt absolutely nothing but pity.

"You sold me like property," Chloe said coldly, stepping over the shattered glass on the marble floor. "Have fun paying off your own debts in a prison cell."

Chloe turned her back on her parents forever. She walked over to the wooden pew where her sister Marin was still sitting, trembling and in profound shock. Despite everything that had happened, Marin was just another young victim of Liam’s cruel manipulation and their parents' disgusting greed.

Chloe reached out her hand. "Come on," Chloe said softly.

Marin looked up, fresh tears pooling in her eyes, and tightly took her sister's hand. Together, the two sisters walked down the beautiful white aisle, leaving the shattered, ruined lives of their abusers far behind them. Outside the chapel, the sun was shining brightly. Chloe had secretly emptied her own savings account to book a private flight to Europe, ready to start a new, beautiful, and free life with her sister, far away from the toxic poison of their past.

If your own family sold you out to cover their debts, would you have the courage to expose them in front of everyone?
