Chapter 3 - The Grandfather's Trust

To understand the sheer, apocalyptic horror currently freezing the blood in Ray's veins, one had to look at the massive corporate empire funding this luxurious Christmas Eve dinner.
Ray didn't build his multi-million-dollar real estate company. Carter and Dylan's grandfather did. When the grandfather passed away five years ago, Ray took over as CEO. From that day on, Ray relentlessly tormented Carter, favoring his greedy, incompetent golden child, Dylan. Ray constantly called Carter a disappointment to push him out of the family business entirely.
But the grandfather was a brilliant, observant man. He knew his son Ray was a corrupt, arrogant bully.
The document inside the cream envelope wasn't a birthday card. It was a legally binding federal notification from the city's most ruthless trust attorneys.
The grandfather's will contained a secret, ironclad stipulation. Ray was only ever the temporary executor of the corporation. Exactly fifty-one percent of the company's voting shares had been locked in a blind trust for half a decade. And according to the legal document trembling in Ray's hand, that trust automatically unlocked and transferred to the primary heir on his thirtieth birthday.
