Chapter 8 - The Monday Deadline

"You don't borrow two million dollars by forging vendor signatures, Keegan," Dallas replied, his voice dropping into a register of absolute, icy authority. "That's called felony wire fraud."
"Please!" Keegan begged, falling to his knees right there on the suburban patio, completely humiliating himself in front of the family he had tried so hard to impress. "Dallas, I love your sister! I really do! Please don't do this! If you press charges, I'll go to federal prison for ten years!"
Dallas looked down at the pathetic, weeping man on his father's patio. He felt absolutely zero pity for him. Keegan hadn't loved Abby; he had targeted her because he thought marrying into the Chairman's family would somehow protect him when the audit finally caught up to him.
"That's why I said I would see you on Monday," Dallas stated coldly.
Keegan looked up, tears streaming down his face. "Monday?"
"The internal audit concludes on Monday morning at 9:00 AM," Dallas explained, showing absolutely no mercy. "My legal team is handing the entire unredacted file over to the FBI field office in Chicago. You have exactly forty-eight hours to pack a bag, call a defense attorney, and say goodbye to your freedom."
