Chapter 14 - Livia Chose When to Cut Her Hair Again

For almost two years after the wedding, Livia would not let anyone approach her with electric clippers.

Even the sound from a salon made her tense.

So nobody forced it.

Rosalie trimmed her hair with scissors only when Livia requested it.

Her hair grew.

The jagged sections softened.

Eventually the unevenness disappeared.

Then, shortly before her sixth birthday, Livia surprised everyone.

“I want it short.”

Alessandro asked carefully:

“You sure?”

“Yes.”

She chose a shoulder-length bob from a picture.

At the salon, she sat on Rosalie’s lap for the first few minutes.

Then moved into the chair alone.

No clippers.

Just scissors.

Snip.

Snip.

Snip.

This time, every cut happened because Livia wanted it.

When the stylist finished, Livia spun toward the mirror.

“I look fast.”

Alessandro laughed.

“How does hair look fast?”

“It just does.”

That was enough.
